DIY: Grumpy Cat Pumpkin

Halloween is one of my favoriteeee holidays, probably because I love themed parties/ occasions. At work, we’re having a pumpkin decorating competition. I checked out Pinterest and found a grumpy cat pumpkin (here!)…Who doesn’t like halloween, and who doesn’t like grumpy cat?!.  I love both equally.. So I decided to make my very own grumpy cat pumpkin and add some of my own ideas. SO here’s how to make your very own!!

What You’ll need:

  1. 1 Pumpkin (obviously)
  2. Paint: ALOTT of white, blue, pink, and black
  3. Paint brushes (a small one and a large one is fine)
  4. Black chalk
  5. Chenille stem (black).. you’re probably thinking wtf is that, find it here
  6. White stretch cord, here
  7. Spray glue, here
  8. A disposable table cloth (to paint on)

Step 1: Lay your table cloth down on the surface where you’re going to paint.

Step 2: After you’ve bought your pumpkin (you could find one at home depot or Walmart etc.),  paint the entire thing white, but leave the stump as is. Let dry.

Step 3: Trace the outline of the face using black chalk. You could also use a pencil, but the chalk comes off easier if you mess up! (reference the picture shown below).

Step 4: Paint on the eyes (using blue, black and white paint) and the nose and mouth (using black and pink paint).

Step 5: Paint the surrounding black/grey area of the eye using a patting motion.

Step 6: Once everything is dry, cut 6 pieces of the white stretch cord for the whiskers, and glue them on the pumpkin in between the nose and mouth using the spray adhesive.

Step 7: Cut 2 pieces of the chenille stem to make the ears. Shape the pieces into little triangles. Glue them on the stop of the pumpkin, one on each side of the stump using the spray adhesive.

Step 8: Cut a long piece of the chenille stem to make the cats tail. Glue in the middle of the pumpkins back.

Step 9: Cut 2 pieces of the chenille stem to make the cats front paws. Shape them into semi circles, and glue them with spray adhesive in the front of the pumpkin under the cats mouth.

Step 10: To make the paws look as though they have nails, cut 8 very small pieces of the white stretch cord, and glue them to the tip of the paws.

AND you’re done!

#GoVeg

When you first hear that someone is vegetarian, your first thoughts are probably “oh god you’re one of those.” For many months now, i’ve been wanting to become “one of those” weirdos, and I recently stopped saying that I wanted to and actually became one! why? After watching manyyyyy documentaries on the effects of eating meat on your health, the planet and the treatment of animals, I decided that it was something I really wanted to do. It was not an easy transition, let me tell you. You really don’t realize how much meat you eat until you can’t eat it at all. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to eat carrots and salad all day, everyday. Thank god for Pinterest/Yummly/Google because I would actually be eating salad every damn day if it wasn’t for the jesus-like recipes that they provide for me (thanks ya’ll). Once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy! I can’t say I physically feel any different because I don’t (although I thought I would), but I do feel better about myself. I encourage everyone to watch Food, Inc., and maybe go veg too 😉 Here’s one of todays meals from my Instagram:   IMG_3938
